Teresa Urquhart spoke to the Bluffton Rotary Club on March 11, 2009 regarding the comprehensive services for CoastalCarolinaHospital with Bluffton-OkatieOutpatientCenter and HiltonHeadRegionalMedicalCenter all part of the Tenet Healthcare Corporation.

For those patients who are uninsured, Coastal Carolina's Uninsured Patients Discount program has been in effect for six years and with the growth of unemployment in the area, this program helps cut costs to the patient.

Coastal Carolina Hospital is served by a local board and a local senior leadership team. The hospital's Auxiliary Volunteers are very important to CoastalCarolinaHospital. They currently have approximately 30-40 volunteers. The auxiliary was implemented with the support of HiltonHeadHospital to include raising funds that go back into the community by way of college scholarships for area students.

Coastal Carolina is currently recruiting for primary care, orthopedics and urology physicians. They have four new physicians and one general surgeon starting in June of this year.

Coastal Carolina Hospital participates in a pay for performance commitment to quality. They grade themselves on patient satisfaction, in-patient, out-patient, and emergency services. Their current overall satisfaction is 4 Stars striving for 5 Stars.

Coastal Carolina Hospital also participates in a Prevention and Wellness Program which allows them the opportunity to be at work-sites, local schools and the Boys and Girls Club.
