Rotarians Assist Special Olympics
Our Bluffton Rotary Club Members assisted at the March 21 Special Olympics event hosted by May River High School.  Over 300 special needs students from elementary through high school ages gathered from Beaufort and Jasper Counties to compete in track and field events.

UPCOMING MEETING: March 26
Join us this Wednesday at the Rotary Community Center at 7:30 AM for our weekly meeting.  This week we will behaving our monthly business meeting.

Meeting Recap: March 20
We had a very informative meeting on the 20th when members of the USCB athletic staff spoke to us about their teams and the university. Ted Falkner, Head Baseball Coach spoke about his desire to create leaders and prepare them for life after baseball. Codee Yeske, Coach of the Women's Softball Team talked about the involvement her players have in the greater community. Quinn Monahan, Athletic Director for USCB, spoke about how the school has grown and how excited it was for all the students to be fielding competitive teams. He left us with a hearty invitation to come support the school, and come meet with him personally for a tour and to be his guest at one of the games.

CART FUND DONATIONS
Do you worry about Alzheimer’s?  We do not have a cure for Alzheimer’s disease, but we must find one.  Finding a cure starts with you.  Every year the CART (Coins for Alzheimer’s Research Trust) Fund gives research grants focused on finding a cure for Alzheimer’s disease.

Have you given to the CART Fund this year?  The CART Fund is dedicated to raising funds to provide “seed” money for cutting edge, high impact research in hopes of finding a cure/prevention for Alzheimer’s disease.  The goal of the CART Fund is to encourage exploratory and developmental Alzheimer’s disease research projects within the United States. This is accomplished by providing financial support for the early and conceptual plans of those projects that may not yet be supported by extensive preliminary data but have the potential to substantially advance biomedical research. These projects should be distinct from those designed to increase knowledge in a well-established area unless they intend to extend previous discoveries toward new directions or applications.
