Upcoming Meeting: July 15
Our speaker for our July 15 meeting is Jenny Wilkins of CURE.

Jenny and her family were first introduced to CURE in 2003 when their daughter, Catie, was diagnosed with medulloblastoma on her first birthday. Shortly after Catie’s death in 2007, the Wilkins started Catie’s Fund, a Named Fund of CURE, in her memory and began working to raise money for research. Jenny went back to work as an elementary literacy specialist, but continued to work with her community to grow Catie’s Fund through its signature event, Catie’s Gathering. She joined CURE’s staff in 2018 to continue that work and expand Catie’s Gathering to other communities. As Development Director, Events South Georgia, Jenny’s goal is to create events that inform guests of the need for funding research for childhood cancers and to raise money for that necessary research. Wife to Tré. Mom to Catie, Izzy, and Chip. A teacher in her "first life," and now Development Director of Events for CURE Childhood Cancer. Loves time with family, the mountains, sitting on her back porch and working with students in the discipleship group that she and Tre host.

Meeting Recap: July 8
At our meeting on July 8 we had a great discussion about what it means to Create Lasting Impact as a local club. Our Administration Director, Mary O'Neill reviewed what each committee was responsible for and what their focus should be. Every member was then asked to indicate their interest for the next year.

CART FUND DONATIONS
Do you worry about Alzheimer’s?  We do not have a cure for Alzheimer’s disease, but we must find one.  Finding a cure starts with you.  Every year the CART (Coins for Alzheimer’s Research Trust) Fund gives research grants focused on finding a cure for Alzheimer’s disease.

Have you given to the CART Fund this year?  The CART Fund is dedicated to raising funds to provide “seed” money for cutting edge, high impact research in hopes of finding a cure/prevention for Alzheimer’s disease.  The goal of the CART Fund is to encourage exploratory and developmental Alzheimer’s disease research projects within the United States. This is accomplished by providing financial support for the early and conceptual plans of those projects that may not yet be supported by extensive preliminary data but have the potential to substantially advance biomedical research. These projects should be distinct from those designed to increase knowledge in a well-established area unless they intend to extend previous discoveries toward new directions or applications.
