At our last meeting, we discussed transitioning back to our regular weekly in-person meetings. We hope to be back to our regular meeting schedule and format by July; however, Joanie will send an email to the club about how best to handle the transition with regard to safety and payment of dues. Starting in April, we will do hybrid meetings with in-person attendance at the Bluffton Rotary Club building, and online access either through Zoom or Facebook Live. We will keep the club posted on the format we will use for the online portion of the meeting. Club Member Updates: Our Member Spotlight of John Anderson was a hit--we had a little over 750 views of the spotlight of John on Facebook. We are planning our next member spotlight to be released soon. And speaking of club members - Kristen McGuire was presented to the club for consideration as a new member. Kristen said she is excited to be living in Bluffton and looking forward to becoming part of the club to get involved in the community. Much of her background has involved working for non-profits in various capacities and executive positions. She was very happy to annouce that she was recently offered a director position with the Boys and Girls Club. Congrats, Kristen! In general, our membership numbers are growing depite the pandemic. We have a great group of folks working though the steps to become Bluffton Rotarians. Treasury Report: Steve Miller gave the club an update on our financial picture. Overall, the club is in good financial shape. We have the money allocated for Happy Feet set aside, and we are prepared to pay our second Foundation contribution. We have some funds leftover and available which we may use to fulfill any requests for charitable contributions from community organizations in need. Service Project Updates: Jim Evans gave a quick update on upcoming service projects. We will be hosting Happy Feet this year on March 27th, 8am to 10am at MC Riley Elementary. Several other upcoming service projects include a landscape project of the Field of Dreams to celebrate Arbor Day on April 30th. We will need donations of plants (we have worked with a local nursery and have earmarked the plants that will work best for the landscape), and we will need volunteers to help plant the plants on April 30th. We will send out more information about donating plants and a volunteer sign-up sheet for the actual planting in the near future. Rise Against Hunger is scheduled for Sepember 25, 2021 at the Bluffton Rotary Club building. More info to come about this event and volunteer opportunities. Upcoming Fundraisers: We are planning on holding another (and maybe more than one) fundraising event selling smoked pork butts. We are working on pricing and the when and where. More info to come soon! |
