Our District 7770 is looking for Rotary Clubs to sponsor an Ambassadorial Global Grant Scholar. The District and Rotary International fund one year scholarships for graduate study abroad, with sustainable, high-impact outcomes in one of Rotary’s six areas of focus: peace and conflict prevention/resolution, disease prevention and treatment, water and sanitation, maternal and child health, basic education and literacy, economic and community development.  

Ambassadorial Global Grant Scholarships are for study during one academic year abroad and provide funding by a cash grant from which the applicant must provide for round-trip transportation, tuition and fees, room, board and language training (if necessary) and living expenses.

Sponsor clubs screen and select applicants January - April 2013

Applications due to sponsoring Rotary Club April 1, 2013 – in addition to the online application, a University transcript, a photo and 2 letters of recommendation must be submitted.

A preliminary costs proposal for the Scholarship must be submitted to meet the minimum $30,000 requirement. The costs to include all tuition, books, travel, living expenses and a one month language training course in the country of destination as required. A local project in the country of destination can be included to meet the $30,000 minimum.

If you know someone that will have completed college by Spring 2014 and would consider continuing their education abroad, this is the perfect opportunity. Sponsoring a scholar has the potential for great impact on your club and its members. Rotarians help select potential applicants, help them prepare their applications and prepare for their district interviews. Selected scholars can visit our club, do a presentation and can participate in service projects. During their year abroad, scholars will maintain a blog where your members can follow along with their experiences.

NOW is the time for you to be identifying potential applicants for the program. Applicants identified now must have completed college by Spring, 2014, to be going out for their study abroad in the 2014 - 2015 school year. If you know someone that may be interested, please let us know.
