The Rotary Club of Bluffton has selected the Bluffton Jasper County Volunteers in Medicine (VIM) as the full benefactor of their second "Believing in Bluffton" event to be held Sunday, June 5 at the Community Center at Oscar Frazier Community Park located at 11 Recreation Court in Bluffton.

The Bluffton Jasper County VIM will open it's doors this spring on Bluffton Road, across from the Bluffton Post Office (formerly Dr. Fornari's office.) The new, 501(c)(3), non-profit organization has come to fruition via the passion and hard work of Executive Director, Jennifer Brown.

"Everybody should be able to get medical attention," commented Brown, the former Director of Volunteers at the Hilton Head VIM - a facility that only serves families who live or work on Hilton Head or Daufuskie Island. "It was absolutely dreadful turning people away."

In addition to Brown, the VIM board of directors has named Jenny Haney – formerly with Bluffton Self Help – as the Director of Development and has recruited several doctors, a dentist, nurse practitioner and pharmacist.

Only two out of every three residents in South Carolina has health insurance. VIM is a solution that bridges that gap. There is also a facility that serves members of the Beaufort community but until now, those who would otherwise qualify for treatment but reside in Bluffton and Jasper County were unable to participate in either program.

In addition to purchasing tickets to the Believing in Bluffton event, members of the community can support the clinic by attending a fun filled fundraiser on April 16, from 3 – 9 p.m. at the Community Center at Oscar Frazier Community Park. Tickets for the Believing in Bluffton event (to be held at the same location in June) will be available at the April event.
