On Wednesday, February 2, we had the pleasure of welcoming former Hardeeville Town Manager, Ted Fedler.

Ted expanded on the current situation with the future Jasper County port and how both Beaufort and Jasper Counties need to work together for the good of all in both counties.

"We all need to work together to be successful. We need each other," declaired Fedler.

About the Jaser Port
In 2008 a group of key officials initiated the process that will end in the completion of the first phase of the Jasper Ocean Terminal (JOT) within the next 5-10 years.

On the South Carolina side of the Savannah River in Jasper County, the JOT will be only a few miles from Hardeeville. The Phase 1 investment will be just under $500 million and will bring thousands of industrial jobs to Hardeeville and Southern Jasper County. When all phases are complete, it will be a $2 billion footprint of industrial activity that could quite possibly be the largest terminal on the east coast.

Exit 3 in Hardeeville, on Interstate 95, will be play a major role with regard to the infrastructure of the JOT. The City of Hardeeville currently has several thousand acres of property zoned "industrial" planned for development in that area.

Fedler urged members to support the JOT and the development of Exit 3.

Finally Ted spoke of the "Kiss A Pig" fundraiser that will benefit the American Diabetes Association. He has pledged to lose 150-200 pounds. To read more about the 2011 Kiss A Pig Fundraiser go to http://savdailynews.com/main.asp?SectionID=2&SubSectionID=23&ArticleID=33213
